Editorial Policy

This page explains how the guides on Westchester Ride are researched and kept current, so that any reader can check a number against its source. It applies to every guide on the site.

1. What the guides cover

The subject is the logistics of reaching and leaving a fixed place at a fixed time in New York and New Jersey: stadiums and arenas, the airports JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Westchester County (HPN), and the rail connections that link them. That means gate and door times, bag rules, parking, train and bus routes, terminal layouts, check-in deadlines and the trip home. The guides do not review events, teams, airlines, hotels or restaurants, and they do not rank companies by quality.

2. Where figures come from

A figure is used only when it comes from the organization responsible for it: the venue or team, the airport authority, the airline, the transit agency, the county or state, or a parking or shuttle operator that one of those organizations lists. When a company’s own page is the only place a price appears, the guide names that company as the source so the reader knows who set it.

Some things are never used as a source: forums and social media, other travel guides and blogs, figures repeated across many sites without an original, and figures recalled by an AI model rather than read from the issuer. Forums are useful for learning which questions travelers ask. They do not supply answers.

3. Every figure has a name and a month

Each figure appears with the organization that published it and the month it was read, in the issuer’s own wording rather than a rounded version. A sentence such as “parking is about forty dollars” does not appear on this site. A sentence that names the venue, quotes its published rate and gives the month it was checked does.

4. When nothing is published

If an issuer does not publish something, the guide names the page that was read and says that page does not show it. It does not fill the gap with an estimate, a figure from a third party or an old number. Before an absence is written, the issuer’s home page, linked documents and related pages are checked as well, because a missing figure often turns out to be published somewhere less obvious.

5. When sources disagree

Venues, teams and transit agencies sometimes publish different numbers for the same thing. The guide then shows both figures and both sources, says which organization is responsible for that fact, and states which figure any calculation uses.

6. Prices are reference points

Every price on the site is a reference point taken from its issuer, not a quote. Prices change without notice and vary by season, event and demand. Guides that show prices carry a note to that effect, and readers should confirm with the issuer before they travel.

7. Independence

No venue, airport, airline, transit agency or transportation company reviews a guide before it is published or pays to appear in one. There are no ads and no affiliate links on the site. A sponsor, if there is one, is labeled and has no say over what a guide recommends or which figures it shows.

8. Updates and corrections

Guides are rechecked when an issuer announces a change and when a reader reports a difference. A correction is made against the issuer’s current page, and the month on the corrected figure is updated. To report one, use the contact page and include the page and the figure.

9. Who is responsible

Westchester Ride is published by Alexander González, who is responsible for every guide on the site. More about the publication is on the About page.
