Which train line a Yankee Stadium hotel sits on decides the night
Yankee Stadium names three subway lines at its 161st Street station: the 4, the D, and the B on weekdays only. Metro-North runs direct trains to Yankees-E. 153rd St. A hotel counts as close when it reaches one of those four services without a transfer.

Three Wyndham properties in Bronx ZIP 10451 sell themselves on stadium proximity, and only one puts a number on it. Self park at four garages around the ballpark costs $49, according to City Parking, the operator New York City appointed, checked September 2026. No room rate appears here: game-day rates move by opponent and date.
| Service or garage (issuer) | Where it reaches the ballpark | What it costs | Days it runs | Best for a hotel guest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 train, East Side (New York Yankees) | 161st Street/Yankee Stadium, at River Avenue | Not published | Every day | A room on the East Side |
| D train, Sixth Avenue (New York Yankees) | Same station, “steps away from the gates” | Not published | Every day | A Sixth Avenue room, any date |
| B train, Sixth Avenue (New York Yankees) | Same station, “steps away from the gates” | Not published | “only on weekdays” | Weekday games and nothing else |
| Metro-North (New York Yankees) | Yankees-E. 153rd Street, “steps away from the gates” | Not published | Gameday service | A room north of the city |
| Bx6, Bx13, Bx1, Bx2 and BxM4 buses (New York Yankees) | East 161st Street at River Avenue and the Grand Concourse | Not published | Not published | A room a few Bronx blocks out |
| Four City Parking garages (City Parking) | 20 East 161st Street, 950 River Avenue, 1 Macombs Dam Park, 1011 Gerard Avenue | $49 self park, $325 for a bus at Gerard Avenue | Sold by event | A room picked on price |
Two platforms at the gates, and what the Yankees publish about each
The New York Yankees place the 161st Street/Yankee Stadium subway station “on East 161st Street and River Avenue” and the Metro-North platform at Yankees-E. 153rd Street, both “steps away from the gates”. That is the only proximity claim in the search with an issuer behind it, and it belongs to two platforms rather than to a building with beds.
Which gate a guest walks to is published too. Gate 4 is entered via East 161st Street and the Macombs Dam Bridge and Gate 6 via East 161st Street and River Avenue, with Gate 2 on Jerome Avenue and Gate 8 on River Avenue, both at East 164th Street. Gates open 90 minutes before the scheduled first pitch for most games, so a room that walks to East 161st Street lands on the same two gates the trains do. Door-to-door detail sits in our page on reaching Yankee Stadium by train, bus and car.
What the hotels marketing Yankee Stadium actually publish about the walk
Exactly one hotel page in the set publishes a distance. From 2568 Park Ave, Bronx, NY 10451, the Wingate lists “Located one mile from Yankee Stadium and two miles from Central Park, we’re within walking distance of the subway station”, checked September 2026. The sentence names neither the station nor the line.
The other two properties publish adjectives. Super 8 by Wyndham Bronx Near Stadium, at 859 Concourse Village West, invites guests to “Settle in steps from iconic Yankee Stadium” and adds, “We’re also a short walk from the 161 St.-Yankee Stadium subway station”, with no minutes attached. From 997 Brook Ave, the Days Inn publishes “Situated just blocks away from Yankee Stadium” and names no station.
All three share a ZIP code with the ballpark, whose GPS address the club publishes as “One East 161st Street, Bronx, New York”. A shared 10451 covers four different streets. Chain policy pages added nothing: check-in and check-out times on the three Wyndham pages are drawn by script and returned no value to a static read in September 2026, and the Marriott, IHG and Choice Hotels pages did not serve at all.
| Property (issuer) | Address published | Claim about the ballpark | Distance published | Line named |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Super 8 by Wyndham Bronx Near Stadium | 859 Concourse Village West, Bronx, NY 10451 | “steps from iconic Yankee Stadium” | None | None, only the 161 St.-Yankee Stadium station |
| Days Inn by Wyndham Bronx Near Stadium | 997 Brook Ave, Bronx, NY 10451 | “just blocks away from Yankee Stadium” | None | None |
| Wingate by Wyndham Bronx/Haven Park | 2568 Park Ave, Bronx, NY 10451 | “within walking distance of the subway station” | 1 mile to the ballpark, 2 miles to Central Park | None |
Which room wins, game by game, from what each issuer publishes
Four common trips, four different winners, each decided by the lines the club names rather than by a hotel’s adjective.
A weekday game with a Manhattan room. Winner: a room whose nearest station is served by the D. Criterion: the club lists the D as Sixth Avenue service to 161st Street with no day-of-week condition, while the B carries one. Treat the B as a bonus on a Tuesday, never as the plan.
A weekend game. Winner: the 4 or the D, and nothing else. Criterion: “B train (Sixth Avenue) service is also available, but only on weekdays”, in the club’s own wording. A Sixth Avenue room sold on B access alone becomes a transfer two days out of seven.
An arrival from Westchester or Connecticut. Winner: a room beside a Metro-North station, not a Bronx room. Criterion: direct service runs into the Yankees-E. 153rd Street station, a platform the club calls steps from the gates, so a northern room keeps a one-seat ride that a Bronx room off the 4 and the D cannot match. Branch by branch, our Westchester to Yankee Stadium options set out the connections.
A family arriving by car. Winner: whichever room the budget likes, with the car in the City Parking system. Criterion: City Parking lists $49 self park at the 161st Street, River Avenue and Ruppert Plaza garages and at the Gerard Avenue Lot, where a bus costs $325, across a system of “over 9,000 parking spaces”. October flips it: the club tells postseason fans to “arrive early and via public transportation” and warns the 164th Street Garage “is expected to reach capacity quickly”, so an October room goes back on the D. Who sets that rate runs through our breakdown of Yankee Stadium parking.
What a room across the street cannot buy at Yankee Stadium
Yankee Stadium publishes a re-entry rule that voids the main appeal of a room across the road: “Guests are not permitted to leave Yankee Stadium and return on the same ticket. Re-entry will be permitted only in the case of an emergency.” Walking back in the fourth inning ends the night, whatever the address.
Storage is the second gap, and it is what makes a room genuinely useful. The club’s entry page states: “There is no storage area for any items at Yankee Stadium.” One exception is published: “Large folding strollers and non-folding strollers should be stored at the Guest Relations and Ticket Sales Booth, adjacent to Gate 6 in the Great Hall.” Bags have nowhere to go.
What passes the gate is soft-sided and no larger than 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches, plus an empty non-glass bottle of up to 24 oz, checked September 2026. The two official pages disagree about water: the A-Z guide also admits “clear factory-sealed plastic bottles of water 1 liter in size or smaller”, which the entry page does not. Laptops and aerosols including sunscreen are prohibited, so a guest who has checked out with a work bag has one place to leave it: our Yankee Stadium bag rules lay out the sizes.
Booking details around East 161st Street worth checking first
Six published details, from the club and from the operator the city appointed, change what a nearby room is worth.
- Monument Park shuts 45 minutes before the scheduled start at Yankees games and 15 minutes before New York City FC matches, and the club warns that “the line to Monument Park may close earlier than the Park itself”.
- Car service, not a rideshare zone. One sentence covers it, “Car service dispatch is available outside Gate 2”, and the club names no Uber or Lyft pickup point anywhere on its own site as of September 2026.
- Accessible plans run through two phone numbers, not the front desk. Disabled Services takes calls on (718) 579-4510 and City Parking on (718) 588-7817, since the club publishes no accessible parking count of its own.
- Access-A-Ride stops adjacent to Gate 4 on East 161st Street, and the club states it has no wheelchairs to rent or loan.
- Driving in means the Major Deegan Expressway, Interstate 87. Exit 5 serves East 161st Street and the Macombs Dam Bridge both ways, while Exit 4 puts a northbound car on the 145th Street Bridge instead. The way back out is covered in our page on getting out after the last out.
The assumptions that turn a nearby room into a long night
Six assumptions a booking page invites, and the official sentence that closes each one, checked September 2026.
Reading “steps from” as a measured walk is the first, since no hotel page in the set publishes a walking time. Treating a shared ZIP code as proximity is the second, because 10451 covers Concourse Village West, Brook Avenue and Park Avenue as well as East 161st Street. Booking a Sixth Avenue room for a Saturday on B service is the third, closed by the club’s own “only on weekdays”. Checking out and carrying luggage to the game is the fourth, since the ballpark publishes no storage of any kind. Stepping back to the room mid-game is the fifth, and re-entry is permitted “only in the case of an emergency”. Trusting a Premium Parking Pass at the 164th Street Garage in October is the sixth, because pass holders “may be directed to park in other lots”.
Editorial note: prices, schedules, and policies on this page were checked against the official sources named in the text in September 2026. Venues, airports, and transit agencies change them without notice; confirm with the operator before you travel. Westchester Ride does not sell tickets or parking and does not accept payment to rank any operator.
Questions about hotels near Yankee Stadium
Six recurring questions, answered from what each issuer published in September 2026.
Three Wyndham properties in Bronx ZIP 10451 market Yankee Stadium proximity, and only Wingate by Wyndham Bronx/Haven Park publishes a figure, one mile, checked September 2026. Neither the Super 8 nor the Days Inn page publishes a distance, and none publishes a walking time.
The New York Yankees name three: the 4 on the East Side and the D on Sixth Avenue every day, plus the B on Sixth Avenue weekdays only. All three stop at 161st Street/Yankee Stadium, on River Avenue, steps from the gates.
For a weekend game, a Manhattan room on the 4 or the D beats a Bronx room that reaches neither, because the Yankees publish the B as weekday service only. On a weekday the Bronx wins if the walk ends on East 161st Street.
No. The entry page states there is no storage area for any items at Yankee Stadium, checked September 2026. Only strollers have a published home, at the Guest Relations and Ticket Sales Booth beside Gate 6. Larger bags stay back in the room.
Not on the same ticket. Yankee Stadium publishes that guests are not permitted to leave and return, and that re-entry is allowed only in the case of an emergency, checked September 2026. A nearby room buys a shorter walk home, never a second entry.
City Parking, appointed by New York City, lists $49 self park at the 161st Street Garage, the River Avenue Garage, the Ruppert Plaza Garage and the Gerard Avenue Lot, where a bus costs $325, checked September 2026. The Yankees set none of those rates.
The search for a hotel near Yankee Stadium ends with four anchors that carry an issuer, and none is a room: the 4 and the D daily, the B on weekdays, Metro-North into the ballpark’s own platform, and $49 self park in the City Parking garages. The hotels contribute one mile and two adjectives.
Choose the line first, then the bed. On a Saturday, the D is the difference between a walk and a transfer.
