HPN Long-Term Parking for a Week: the 72-Hour Break-Even Point

What seven days at HPN cost in each parking option

Westchester County Airport charges $36.47 per calendar day in the enclosed garage across from the main terminal. The Long Term Lot three-quarters of a mile out costs $20.88 per day, a rate the operator publishes only past 72 hours and only for online bookings. Seven days therefore run $255.29 against $192.93, at the rates the operator publishes.

The 72-hour break-even at HPN | WestchesterRide
  • Best for budget: Long Term Lot booked online, $192.93 for 7 days at the $20.88 rate the operator publishes past 72 hours.
  • Best for late arrivals: Main Terminal Garage, $255.29 for 7 days at the $36.47 daily maximum the airport publishes.
  • Door-to-door: car service round trip, $106.00 at the $53.00 one-way price Marriott publishes for the run to HPN.
  • Best for non-drivers: Bee-Line route 12, $6.00 round trip per person at the $3.00 base fare Bee-Line publishes.
  • Avoid: reaching the Long Term Lot without a reservation, which bills at the $36.47 daily maximum the airport publishes.

Garage against Long Term Lot depends on whether the stay clears 72 hours, and on nothing else.

Why HPN has no off-site lots to put in the comparison

No off-site parking trade ever formed around HPN. No operator serving the airport published its own daily rate in August 2026, and westchesterairportparking.com, long listed as one, no longer resolves. The airport’s parking page names no off-site lots at all, which removes an entire column from a comparison that works at Newark or JFK.

The reason sits in a figure the airport publishes about itself. HPN operates under Terminal Use Regulations that cap the terminal at 240 passengers per half hour, a limit Westchester County restated in March 2026, and five scheduled passenger airlines share that capacity, per the airport. An off-site lot needs a passenger flow that ceiling forbids. What remains is two parking products run by one operator, plus a handful of hotel shuttles with published hours.

The half-hour, hourly and daily rate card, and the disagreement between the two issuers who publish it, are laid out in the full Westchester County Airport parking rate card. Whether HPN is the right departure point in the first place belongs to the HPN airport guide, and the case for driving to a bigger field instead sits in the rundown of airports serving Westchester County. What follows here is one week of arithmetic.

The 72-hour line that decides which HPN lot is cheaper

The two parking products at Westchester County Airport carry an identical price for three days and different prices for four. In the garage across from the main terminal the airport publishes $4.38 per half hour, $8.76 per hour and a maximum of $36.47 per calendar day. Its Long Term Lot bills that same $36.47 per day until a stay passes 72 hours, and the operator publishes $20.88 per day beyond it.

One line in the operator’s rate notice does more work than the rates do. Customers, it reads, “must book the Long Term Lot online in order to receive the discounted rate”. The lower price is a property of the reservation, not of the lot. A driver who follows the signs without having booked pays the garage figure for the whole week and parks three-quarters of a mile before the terminal building on the airport access road, rather than across the road from the door.

Two issuers publish HPN parking rates and in August 2026 they were not saying the same thing. On the county’s own page the $4.38, $8.76 and $36.47 scale is still shown as taking effect on January 1, 2026, while its parking operator posts that scale as current alongside the $20.88 long-term rate. January 1 has passed, so the operator’s card is the one that bills, and it is also where the reservation is made.

The clock is not the wall calendar: according to Westchester County Airport, “the calendar day begins when the ticket is pulled”, so the count starts at entry rather than at midnight. That decides the 72-hour test on real itineraries. A Thursday 6:00 a.m. departure returning Sunday at 9:00 p.m. clears the mark, and the same trip returning Sunday at 4:00 a.m. does not. How a partial final day bills is not published, which is the question worth putting to the parking line at (914) 946-0843 before the booking is made.

Three, five, seven and ten days at HPN’s published rates

Those rates produce four totals that answer the question travelers actually ask at HPN. Each column applies the published daily figures in sequence: $36.47 per calendar day through the first 72 hours, then $20.88 per day for a Long Term Lot booked online, and $36.47 throughout for everything parked without one.

Option at HPN, rates checked August 20263 days5 days7 days10 days
Main Terminal Garage Parking at $36.47 per calendar day$109.41$182.35$255.29$364.70
Long Term Lot booked online, $20.88 per day after 72 hours$109.41$151.17$192.93$255.57
Long Term Lot reached without an online booking$109.41$182.35$255.29$364.70
Red Oak Transportation round trip at $53.00 each way$106.00$106.00$106.00$106.00
Bee-Line route 12 round trip at $3.00 each way, one person$6.00$6.00$6.00$6.00

The saving is $15.59 for every day past the third, which is the difference between the two rates the operator publishes and nothing more. Three days cost $109.41 in either product, at the daily maximum the airport publishes. A week saves $62.36 and ten days save $109.13. The far corner of the table holds the figure worth carrying: ten days in the long lot come to $255.57 at the rates checked in August 2026, which is 28 cents more than seven days in the garage. A full week in the long lot also lands below six days in the garage, $192.93 against the $218.82 the airport charges.

Read the last two rows instead and a different shape appears. Parking is a meter that runs daily; a round trip is a flat fare that runs twice. The $106.00 implied by the one-way price Marriott publishes already undercuts $109.41 at three days, and a Bee-Line round trip at $6.00 never moves at all. The longer the trip, the worse parking looks against both, and that crossover arrives earlier than the 72-hour one everybody asks about.

The second break-even, when the car should stay at home

Westchester County Airport publishes that Bee-Line bus route 12 provides daily service between the airport and the TransCenter in downtown White Plains, and still lists the fare at $2.75 with MetroCard or exact change. That line is out of date: Bee-Line, which sets the fare, publishes a $3.00 base fare effective January 4, 2026, and stopped accepting MetroCard on July 20, 2026, so the ride is paid with OMNY or exact cash. The stop sits on the island in front of the main terminal, and the airport lists a Bee-Line hotline at (914) 813-7777.

A round trip on route 12 costs $6.00 per person. The garage charges $8.76 for a single hour, so two bus rides cost less than one hour of parking, and the $255.29 garage week buys 85 one-way rides at the fare Bee-Line publishes. Route 12 carries a hard schedule constraint the garage does not, and it also serves Purchase College and Manhattanville. The line itself is covered in the Bee-Line bus guide for Westchester, and the downtown end of the trip in the White Plains to HPN options.

Car service is where the published record at HPN thins out. Neither the airport nor the Westchester County Taxi and Limousine Commission publishes a taxi tariff, and the airport states that “taxi cruising for passengers and the hailing of unoccupied taxis are not permitted at the airport”, so rides are prearranged by calling the company. One point-to-point price does come from a named issuer: Marriott lists Red Oak Transportation at $53.00 one way, reservation required, as the alternate transportation from its Renaissance Westchester hotel, 7.5 miles from HPN, checked August 2026.

That $53.00 is a hotel’s published price for one 7.5-mile leg, not a rate card for the airport, and it is the reference point that exists. The pair comes to $106.00 at the price Marriott publishes. Set against the $192.93 the Long Term Lot charges over a week, the round trip runs $86.93 lower and removes the three-quarter-mile walk from the trip. Against the $255.29 the garage charges over the same week, the gap is $149.29. Any quote from a WCTLC-licensed company is worth getting in writing beforehand, since no published tariff exists to check it against.

Hotel shuttles move the arithmetic only when the flight fits their hours. Sonesta White Plains Downtown publishes complimentary shuttle service to and from HPN, 7.5 miles away, daily from 5:00 a.m. to midnight. Hyatt House White Plains publishes a courtesy shuttle within a five-mile radius that runs 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, covering no early departure bank and no weekend. Hilton Westchester publishes complimentary transportation to HPN and to Rye Train Station without publishing its hours. The rest of that picture sits in the guide to hotels near Westchester County Airport.

Which HPN option wins, trip by trip

Five trip shapes cover most of what lands at HPN, and each has a winner on a stated criterion rather than a preference. The criterion moves from distance to price to schedule as the stay gets longer.

  • Two nights on business. The Main Terminal Garage wins, on distance rather than price. Below 72 hours the operator charges $36.47 per calendar day in both products, so the far lot’s three-quarters of a mile buys nothing. Two days cost $72.94 at the maximum the airport publishes.
  • A vacation week, driving yourself. The Long Term Lot booked online wins by $62.36. The reservation is the entire saving; the same lot reached without one bills the $36.47 maximum the airport publishes, $255.29 for the week.
  • A week with two or more people. Car service wins. The operator charges per vehicle per day while a round trip is charged per vehicle twice, so the $106.00 implied by Marriott’s published $53.00 leg beats $192.93 whatever the headcount, and it scales no worse with four passengers than with one.
  • A 6:00 a.m. departure. The garage wins on availability. HPN’s main terminal is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the airport encourages passengers to arrive two hours before departure, which puts the drop at 4:00 a.m., outside the Bee-Line day and ahead of Sonesta’s 5:00 a.m. shuttle start.
  • Exactly three days. Nothing wins on price. Garage, Long Term Lot and the published round trip land within $3.41 of one another at $109.41, $109.41 and $106.00, on the rates checked in August 2026, so the decision moves to whether a car is wanted at the far end.

Booking notes that move the HPN parking bill

Six details separate a $192.93 week at Westchester County Airport from a $255.29 one, and five of them are settled before the car leaves the driveway.

  • The lower rate belongs to the booking, not to the lot. An online reservation is the condition the parking operator publishes for the $20.88 Long Term Lot rate, so the saving is made at a keyboard rather than at the gate arm.
  • Card only, in both products. The operator publishes that “all payments must be made through debit or credit cards. No cash accepted”, which also removes the cash fallback if a card is declined at the exit.
  • A held space and a lower rate are separate purchases. Premium Reserved Parking on Garage Level 2 and Daily Reserved Parking each add a $5.00 per day reservation charge to the same $36.47 maximum the airport publishes, $41.47 per day, or $35.00 across a week.
  • The 72-hour test runs from the ticket. Since the airport publishes that the calendar day begins when the ticket is pulled, a late-evening return can clear a mark that a morning return the same day misses by hours.
  • A one-way rental keeps the car out of the equation. Six car rental companies keep concierge desks in the arrivals hall and their lots sit next to the main terminal, per Westchester County Airport, with no consolidated center and no shuttle between them.
  • The shuttle starts at 5 a.m. The parking operator publishes a free shuttle for Long Term Lot parkers that “starts at 5AM and runs until the last flight of the night”, but no frequency, which matters at three-quarters of a mile with luggage. Westchester County Airport publishes a parking line at (914) 946-0843 for that question.

Mistakes that turn a $192.93 week into a $255.29 one

Each of these carries a price at HPN, and the first one costs the whole saving the operator publishes.

  • Reaching the Long Term Lot without an online reservation: $62.36 lost over seven days and $109.13 over ten, at the rates the operator publishes.
  • Booking the Long Term Lot for a stay under 72 hours: no saving at all, since the operator charges $36.47 per day below the mark, plus a three-quarter-mile separation from the terminal.
  • Arriving with cash for the exit: neither product accepts it, per Westchester County Airport’s parking operator.
  • Hunting for an off-site lot near HPN: none published a rate in August 2026, and westchesterairportparking.com no longer resolves, so the search returns marketplace listings rather than an operator tariff.
  • Buying a reserved space expecting the long-stay price: $5.00 per day on top of the $36.47 the airport publishes, for $41.47 per day.
  • Counting on a hotel shuttle for a 4:00 a.m. drop: Hyatt House White Plains publishes 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, Sonesta White Plains Downtown publishes 5:00 a.m. to midnight, and Renaissance Westchester publishes no shuttle and offers Red Oak Transportation at $53.00 one way instead.
  • Treating a taxi as hailable at the curb: HPN does not permit hailing, and the airport warns that curb space in front of the main terminal is limited, with standing vehicles ticketed and unattended vehicles towed.

Editorial note: prices, schedules, and policies on this page were checked against the official sources named in the text in August 2026. Venues, airports, and transit agencies change them without notice; confirm with the operator before you travel. Westchester Ride does not sell tickets or parking and does not accept payment to rank any operator.

Short answers on HPN long-term parking

Six questions that decide the bill, answered with the $36.47 and $20.88 figures the airport and its parking operator publish, checked August 2026.

How much is a week of parking at Westchester County Airport?

Seven calendar days in the enclosed garage across from the main terminal cost $255.29 at the $36.47 daily maximum Westchester County Airport publishes, checked August 2026. Booked online, the Long Term Lot bills the $36.47 and $20.88 rates its operator publishes, so the same week costs $192.93.

Is HPN’s long-term lot cheaper than the garage for a three-day trip?

No. Below the 72-hour mark the Long Term Lot bills the same $36.47 per calendar day the airport publishes for the garage, so three days cost $109.41 in either place, checked August 2026. The lot also sits three-quarters of a mile before the terminal on the airport access road.

Do you have to book HPN long-term parking online?

For the discounted rate, yes. Customers must book the Long Term Lot online in order to receive it, HPN’s parking operator publishes, checked August 2026. Arriving without a reservation costs the $36.47 daily maximum the airport publishes, which turns a $192.93 week into a $255.29 one.

Is there off-site parking near Westchester County Airport?

No operator serving HPN published its own rate in August 2026, and westchesterairportparking.com no longer resolves. The airport lists no off-site lots on its parking page. The alternatives are its own Long Term Lot at the $20.88 daily rate the operator publishes past 72 hours, plus hotel shuttles.

Is a car service cheaper than parking at HPN for a week?

At the one published price, yes. Marriott lists Red Oak Transportation at $53.00 one way for the 7.5 miles between its Renaissance Westchester hotel and HPN, reservation required, checked August 2026. Both legs come to $106.00, against the $192.93 the Long Term Lot charges over a week.

How does the calendar day work in HPN’s parking garage?

Per Westchester County Airport, the calendar day begins when the ticket is pulled, so the count starts at entry rather than at midnight, checked August 2026. The daily maximum the airport publishes is $36.47, with $4.38 per half hour and $8.76 per hour below it. Partial final days are unpublished.

The HPN parking question is usually posed as garage against long-term lot, and the arithmetic says that is the wrong axis. Both products charge the same $36.47 the airport publishes until hour 72. The saving does not exist until day four, it is worth $15.59 a day once it does, on rates checked in August 2026, and it exists only because someone opened a browser before leaving the driveway. The traveler who books nothing and follows the signs to the far lot pays the near-lot price and walks three-quarters of a mile to do it.
